We choose places because we believe there are real reasons they’re worth your time and attention — something distinctive about the experience, the people behind it, what they make or do, their connection to the place, or the story surrounding them.

We research those reasons and look for enough evidence to stand behind what we tell you. And a good local business doesn’t automatically make the cut. It has to add something meaningful to your experience or understanding of the place.

The words you read and hear on Meet This Place are ours.

We research each place, verify what we can, and write the stories ourselves. Businesses may provide information or help correct factual details, but the final wording and editorial judgment are ours. If we get something wrong, that responsibility belongs to Meet This Place—not the business.

Businesses cannot pay to be chosen, ranked higher, or keep a competitor out.

Some featured businesses may also hire Meet This Place for additional work — things like deeper storytelling, photography, audio, historical research, marketing content, or measurement. When that happens, we’ll tell you.

A business can pay us to do more for them. It can’t pay us to choose them.
